Textual contemporary art interpretation is heavily practiced in art scene. Yet
this role is still dominated by critics and curators. How it's delivered is largely
based on academic point of view. Internet meme finally raised its bar by using
images of contemporary artworks. Its captions translate artworks liberally,
away from the initial context. Art is now also interpreted as the meanings of
daily life. Y Tho is an attempt to archive internet meme with contemporary art
images as its appropriated visual element. At the same time, this work also
experiments by generating same meme, but derived from texts written by
actual curator or critics.
